Glynn Academy Students Awarded Prestigious National Honor Society Scholarship
Lillian Roberts and Annabelle Lee are two of 575 semifinalists receiving
a $3,200 NHS scholarship
Brunswick, Georgia – The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Lillian Roberts and Annabelle Lee, high school seniors at Glynn Academy were selected as NHS Scholarship semifinalist winners. Lillian Roberts currently serves as the NHS president, and Annabelle Lee currently serves as the NHS secretary. These two amazing young women were chosen from over 10,000 applicants and each will receive a $3,200 scholarship toward their higher education.
Since 1946, more than $19 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). In the 102 years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
According to Dr. Heath Horton, National Honor Society chapter adviser, “In every setting, Lillian Roberts leads with integrity, empathy, and excellence. She is the kind of student who not only achieves but uplifts those around her. Annabelle Lee is the kind of student who not only excels in every endeavor she pursues but who also leaves a lasting, positive impact on the people and communities around her. They both exemplify the four pillars of NHS, and I am so proud of them for earning this scholarship.”
At Glynn Academy, Lillian serves as the co-president of Student Council, president of the Civic Engagement Club, and is an active member of the Model UN team. She founded and chaired the Golden Isles Government Immersion Day where students shadow city and county officials to give students experience with civic service. She will continue her studies in the social sciences and plans to use this knowledge in a civic career to serve her community and enrich the lives of those around her. Annabelle serves as the president of the Environmental Club, co-president of Science Olympiad, vice-president of the Girl Up Club, and is an active member of Interact, Beta, and Pirates of the Spanish Main. She is a natural leader, a scholar, a scientist, a communicator, and a changemaker. She looks forward to attending college next year and beginning the pursuit of a degree in environmental science or a related field. These two young women’s ability to balance rigorous academic coursework with artistic and extracurricular pursuits is nothing short of inspiring.
