Class of 2026 Graduation Information

To the Parents, Guardians, and students of the Glynn Academy Class of 2026:
It is with great pride and anticipation that we prepare to celebrate the Glynn Academy Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. This milestone event will take place at the Glynn County Stadium, and we look forward to honoring this significant achievement with you and your guests. To ensure a seamless and memorable experience, please review the comprehensive details below regarding our upcoming senior activities and graduation requirements.
Requirements for Participation in the Graduation Ceremony
Participation in the commencement ceremony is a privilege reserved for students who have successfully fulfilled all academic and institutional obligations. To be eligible to walk, seniors must:
❖ Successfully complete all state and local credit mandates.
❖ Return all school-issued property, including textbooks, uniforms, and equipment.
❖ Settle all outstanding financial obligations, including fines and fees, with Ms. Perry.
❖ Satisfy all disciplinary requirements—including detentions, Saturday school, suspensions, and community service—no later than Friday, May 14, 2026.
❖ Adhere to all attendance policies, which include mandatory presence at every scheduled graduation practice.
While we encourage all graduates to celebrate this moment with their peers, participation is voluntary. If you choose not to participate in the ceremony, please notify Mrs. Mary Claire Jones by Monday, May 11, 2026, via email at maryclaire.jones@glynn.k12.ga.us or by phone at (912) 267-4100 ext. 3196. Diplomas for non-participants will be available for collection in the Counseling Office from May 26th to May 29th. Please note that the names of all 2026 graduates will be included in the official Graduation Program.
Timeline of Senior Events
❖ Cap and Gown Information: Regalia was distributed on March 2nd. If you have not yet collected your order, please visit the Registrar’s office immediately. For unpaid orders, contact Herff Jones at (912) 764-9314 or via their website. A limited number of loaner gowns are available through school counselors; these may be collected at practice and must be returned following the ceremony.
❖ Senior Examinations: Exams are scheduled for Wednesday, May 13th (3rd and 4th blocks) and Thursday, May 14th (1st and 2nd blocks).
❖ Baccalaureate Program: This voluntary interdenominational service for reflection and fellowship will be held on Sunday, May 17th, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, followed by a reception. Hosted by the PTA, an invitation with further details will be mailed. Students should wear dressy casual attire underneath their graduation gowns.
❖ Senior Awards Ceremony: Scheduled for Sunday, May 17th, at 3:30 p.m. in the GA Auditorium, this event recognizes scholarships and academic achievements. Award recipients will receive formal invitations from the counseling department. Attire is dressy casual with the graduation gown (cap is not required).
❖ Senior Walk: On May 18th at 11:30 a.m., seniors will gather in front of the GA Building in full regalia to be cheered on by staff and students along Mansfield Street. Parents are invited to observe from the east side of the campus, near the new parking lot.
❖ Elementary and Middle School Walks: Optional "Grad Walks" at local schools are available; Friday May 15th All Elementary Schools at 1:30 PM; Monday May 18th 1:30 PM Jane Macon, 2:00 PM Glynn Middle and Needwood, 2:15 PM Risley Middle. Students must provide their own transportation.
Mandatory Graduation Rehearsals
Attendance is required for all practices. Students must adhere to the school dress code during these sessions.
Monday, May 18: 8:30 a.m. Senior Breakfast TBD; 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Rehearsal (GA Auditorium); 11:30 a.m. Senior Walk
Tuesday, May 19: 8:30 a.m. Senior Breakfast hosted by GA Administration; 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Rehearsal (GA Auditorium);
Wednesday, May 20: 8:30 a.m. Senior Breakfast hosted by Student Council; 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Rehearsal (GA Auditorium)
Thursday, May 21: 8:30 a.m. PTSA Breakfast; 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Final Rehearsal at Glynn County Stadium.
Ceremony Dress and Regalia
Graduates are expected to maintain a professional appearance. Cap decorations are strictly prohibited.
❖ Required Items: Cap, tassel, gown, and GA stole.
❖ Gentlemen: Light-colored shirt with a tie, full-length trousers, and closed-toe shoes.
❖ Ladies: Solid white or light-colored dress or slacks with dress shoes or dress sandals. Please consider that gowns are somewhat translucent and the ceremony takes place on grass.
❖ Approved Regalia: Stoles for National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Fine Arts may be worn, alongside AP Honor and Pathway Completion cords. Honor Graduate cords (3.5+ GPA) will be presented during the ceremony. CTAE cords and other recognized stoles or cords (limited to two additional) will be distributed during practice or Senior Honors Day.
Stadium Logistics and Ceremony Protocol
❖ Arrival: Gates open for guests at 6:30 p.m. Graduates must be in their designated lineup spots under the stands by 7:00 p.m.
❖ Seating: No tickets are required. Seating is first-come, first-served. Reserved signs are not permitted. The first two rows of the stands are reserved for handicapped seating.
❖ Ceremony Etiquette: This is a formal event. Guests are asked to remain seated throughout the ceremony and hold all applause until every graduate has been recognized to ensure every name is heard. For the benefit of all, guests may not stand or move to take photographs. Attendees will not be permitted on the field at any time.
Services and Post-Graduation Information
❖ Live Stream & Media: The ceremony will be live-streamed at iMint. Professional photographs will be available for purchase at Mike Brinson Photography
❖ Flowers: Pre-orders for floral arrangements and class T-shirts are available at The Commencement Group. Items may be collected on graduation morning.
❖ Academic Records: Students will receive their cumulative records folder at the final practice on May 22nd. This folder contains vital documents, including two official transcripts. Students are responsible for providing these to colleges or employers. Additional copies may be ordered via Parchment or GaFutures. All students accepted to college must send a final high school transcript to the college.
❖ Digital Data: School Google Drive accounts will be deactivated shortly after graduation. Please use Google Takeout to preserve your personal resources; see Dr. Purcell for assistance.
