Vaccine Requirement Information

10th grade students,
Thank you for your attention to this important update. The nurse wants to share information about the MCV4 (meningitis) vaccine requirement for 11th grade.
- Eligibility for the 2nd MCV4 is tied to your child’s 16th birthday.
- If your student IS 16 years old now and has not received the 2nd MCV4, their immunization record is EXPIRED.
- If your student has not yet turned 16, their record is UP TO DATE.
What this means for 11th grade attendance:
- If your record is EXPIRED: You will not receive your student’s schedule for next year until the vaccine is documented. Please make an appointment now to avoid delays; Contact your doctor's office ASAP, also the Health Department is offering walk-in appointments.
- If your record is UP TO DATE now but your student will turn 16 BEFORE school starts: You MUST get the vaccine before school begins. Schedule the appointment for the day or so after their 16th birthday.
- If your student turns 16 AFTER school starts: You have 30 days from their birthday to get the vaccine and submit documentation to the school. Again, plan the appointment for just after their 16th birthday.
- * If your student turns 16 during the 2 prior weeks before school starts, you have 30 days from their birthday to get the vaccine and submit documentation to the school.
