Teacher : K. Kudyk/C. Payne Course/ Subject: Geometry with Support Date of Instruction: 03-02-21 Opening (I Do) An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson. TKES 1, 2, 3,4,5, 8,10 Standard/s: MGSE9-12.G.GMD.1 Give informal arguments for geometric formulas. a. Give informal arguments for the formulas of the circumference of a circle and area of a circle using dissection arguments and informal limit arguments. b. Give informal arguments for the formula of the volume of a cylinder, pyramid, and cone using Cavalieri’s principle. MGSE9-12.G.GMD.2 Give an informal argument using Cavalieri’s principle for the formulas for the volume of a sphere and other solid figures. MGSE9-12.G.GMD.3 Use volume formulas for cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres to solve problems. MGSE9-12.G.GMD.4 Identify the shapes of two-dimensional cross-sections of three-dimensional objects, and identify three-dimensional objects generated by rotations of two-dimensional objects. Learning Target: Students can identify 3D objects obtained by rotating a 2D shape. Students can identify cross sections of 3D shapes. Students understand how volume formulas are derived. Success Criteria: I understand that 3D objects are created by rotating 2D objects around a fixed point. I can identify which cross-section belongs to 3D objects. I understand the relationship of the area and circumference formulas in the volume formula for spheres. I understand the relationship of the area formula in the volume formulas for cylinders, pyramids, and cones. Introduction/Connection: Do Now: mixed review DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10 GUIDED PRACTICE: INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: U7 Volume of Solids Test Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding . TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8 SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING: Teacher Summary/Questioning
