Standard: alphabet, Basic Spanish Greetings

Learning Targets: 
I can identify Spanish letters.I can spell my name aloud in Spanish.
I can greet and have a basic conversation in Spanish.

Success Criteria:  
I can say the Spanish alphabet aloud.
I can ask and tell information about my name. 

Intro Connection:  (Daily Ten) Page 2 & 3 of textbook, exercises 3 & 4.   How many of the "CULTURE boxes"  boys and girls names do you recognize? Then, with a partner, try to pronounce all the "CULTURE: Nombres de muchachos/as (girls' boys' names), ALOUD

ALPHABET WORK:
• Review alphabet from yesterday with Maestro Kaplan's 3-minute video!          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff0jrheNd-U
• Watch the marching song again!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LT9ltzFJTQ
• Watch Cozmo the dog with the alphabet and sing along!      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpwbOz4eI4A
• TEACHER spells out some words using Spanish letters. Students write the words. 
• WRITTEN: Complete the alphabet packet, in pairs. 
• SPEAKING: Students write down their own first and last name, and try to spell it aloud to a partner, using Spanish letters. Now try to spell your partner's first and last name, using Spanish letters. 
GREETINGS WORK: 
• Give out and begin Greetings packet, if not already done.  
• SPEAKING: Repetition of the greetings phrases from greetings packet page 1. 
• QUIZLET repetitions from smartboard (attached), or here:   https://quizlet.com/416698707/asi-se-dice-prelim-unit-level-1-flash-cards/
• With TEACHER, write down the English meanings of the list (the highlighted parts) 
• With a PARTNER, complete the crossword puzzle, page 2.
• Skip to page 4. With a partner, try to translate the three dialogues (WRITTEN?  ORAL?)

TEXT BOOK EXERCISES with Greetings:


• CULTURE MOMENT: Teacher reads top of page 2, Spanish names:  Choose a name for today from Culture boxes on pgs. 2-3   Use your Spanish name to have the following conversation in groups, with 2-3 people, IN SPANISH:  Hello, my name is (Adela/Alejandro, etc). What's your name?  My name is ____. Nice to meet you. Same here. page 3, exercise 7 (discuss).  
• SPEAKING: Teacher read top of page 4. Students use greetings packet to do exercise 2 & 3, aloud.
