STANDARD: Basic conversation skills
Learning Targets: I can ask for and give personal information. I can explain the difference between the two words for "YOU" - "tú" and "usted."
Success Criteria: I can construct and express an 8-line conversation in Spanish with someone! I can ask, "How are you?" two ways: to a friend, and to an adult.

STUDENTS DO, while watching video: Write in a list: five situations when you would use the "INFORMAL "you" (tú), and five situations when you would use the FORMAL "you" (usted)

announce: Greetings quiz is Wednesday, over highlighted vocabulary.
Add to greetings handout: ¿Cómo está usted? Which means "How are you?” when speaking to an ADULT/stranger. (As opposed to ¿Cómo estás tú" which is "How are you" to a FRIEND/Familiar
Highlight vocabulary on greetings packet for quiz (see attached)
TEXTBOOK EXERCISES
• Students read aloud in pairs the cartoon at the top of page 5. REPEAT, in English
• LISTENING EXERCISE: Students do exercise 4, page 5. (script is in teacher's edition)
• WRITTEN: Students complete exercise 6 on page 5
Individual work: Finish the greetings packet pages, check.
partner work Play the "Memory match game" (match the spanish word with the english word, play in groups of 2-3.)
SUMMARIZER: With a partner, both of you come up with at least 8-line dialogue between two people, using the greetings packet front page. Present to the class.
homework Make flash cards (either handmade cutting up paper to 3x5 inch size!) for the HIGHLIGHTED greetings we highlighted in class today (see attachment IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM)
