Standards Addressed

MGSE9-12.G.GPE.5  Prove the slope criteria for parallel and perpendicular lines and use them to solve geometric problems.

MGSE9-12.G.CO.12  Make formal geometric constructions including a line parallel to a given line through a point not on the line, and a line perpendicular to a given line through a point not on the line.

MGSE9-12.G.CO.13  Construct an equilateral triangle inscribed in a circle

Learning Targets/Success Criteria

I can solve problems involving parallel and perpendicular lines by:

-applying the properties of parallel and perpendicular lines

-identifying the slope of a line given a graph, two points, or an equation of the line.

-determining the slope intercept form of an equation of a line given standard form,

the slope and a point on the line, two points, a parallel line, or a perpendicular  line.

I can construct a perpendicular line and a parallel line given a line and a point by:

-using a compass and a straightedge

I can construct an equilateral triangle inscribed in a circle by:

-using a compass and a straightedge

Introduction/Connection
