Standards: Describing family and family members
Learning Targets:I can identify family vocabulary in Spanish.
Intro/Connection: La Familia Real (portrait of Spain's Royal Family)
Also, call out down different family relationships one might have in English: "mom, aunt, nephew,etc."
Who in your family would you describe as "cómico/a"?
Direct Instruction/Guided Practice:

announce: People who missed the test need to come after school today or tomorrow to make it up. Coaches will wait for athletes for practices. They understand.

Introduce family vocabulary/ family handout (attached)
View Chapter Opening with audio (textbook pages 58-59)
Into notebooks, write and color with crayons, "the hair expressions and the eyes expressions at bottom of page 59!)
If time, videos of chapter (Diálogo en Vivo)
Differentiation: provide the handout with the vocab already written to slower paced writers.
Assessment Strategy: gauge by monitoring
Success Criteria: I will know I have it when I can recall the list of family vocabulary in Spanish.
Summarize: tell me in Spanish: My family is big/small.
Homework: Write 10 sentences describing 10 DIFFERENT IMAGINARY family members with 10 DIFFERENT adjectives, starting with "The" Make at least ONE SENTENCE in the plural. Examples: The cousins are thin. The son is tall., The father is blond. etc.
