  • I can find the inverse of a matrix

  • I can set up a matrix equation from a system of equations.

Introduction/Connection:

Do now  -SAT/ACT Practice- students will answer multiple choice questions written in the SAT or ACT style – posted in Google Classroom

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

Students will review for a non-calculator matrix quiz.

Solving Systems using matrix Equations and Inverses PowerPoint – located in Google Classroom

We will explore how to write a matrix equation and then use a system of equations to solve for the value of the variables.

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10

GUIDED PRACTICE:

Solving Systems Problems – Smartboard

Students will discuss how to create a matrix equation using problems from the Systems of Equations worksheet (front only). – Worksheet is located in the Google Classroom. We will then use graphing calculators to solve the problems.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

QUIZ

Students will independently complete the “Solving systems with Matrix Equations” worksheet located on Google Classroom and report answers by taking a picture and posting to Google Classroom.

Students will find a helpful video in the Google Classroom.

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .

TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

Student will solve a given matrix and show answers on their calculator.
