Teacher : Holly Carter

Course/ Subject: Pre-Calculus

Date of Instruction:1/20/22

Opening (I Do)

An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

TKES 1, 2, 3,4,5, 8,10

Standards:

MGSE9-12.F.TF.1

MGSE9-12.F.TF.2

MGSE9-12.F.TF.3

MGSE9-12.F.TF.4

 Learning Target:

I can use radian angle measures to find the angular and linear velocity of an object.

Success Criteria:

I can convert an angle in degrees to radians.

I can convert an angle from radians to rotations.

I can convert units of measure.

Introduction/Connection:

Connection – If the tires on your car are not the size recommended by the cars manufacturer, you may get a speeding ticket.

Do now  -SAT/ACT Practice- students will answer multiple choice questions written in the SAT or ACT style – posted in Google Classroom

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

We will spend a few minutes in class going over the homework assignment on arc length and area of a sector. I will introduce angular velocity and linear velocity – PowerPoint – Google Classroom. I will demonstrate how to use the formulas to solve several different types of problems.

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10

GUIDED PRACTICE:

We will work together to solve orange book problems 93-97 all on page 293-294.  We will share our answers and discuss the different approaches that can be used.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will independently complete problems 42-46 all on page 370 in their textbook.  They will complete the work on notebook paper and will upload their answers to Google Classroom.

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding.

TKES : 1,2,3, 4,5,6,7,8

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

As we work through the problems from the Orange Book, I will be checking for student understanding and answering questions.
