Opening (I Do)

An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

 Learning Target:

I can define a unit circle.

I can identify the ordered pair associated with specific angle on the unit circle.

Success Criteria:

I can solve a 30-60-90 triangle.

I can solve a 45-45-90 triangle.

Introduction/Connection: 

Do now  -SAT/ACT Practice- students will answer multiple choice questions written in the SAT or ACT style – posted in Google Classroom

We will relate a multiplication mountain to the unit circle.

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

I will systematically walk students through the creation of the unit circle.  We will discuss how each set of ordered pairs are derived. 

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10

GUIDED PRACTICE:  

We will put all the information we have collected on one unit circle.

We will then use the unit circle to evaluate the point function.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students practice evaluating the point function by completing the point function worksheet.

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding.

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

Practice filling in a blank unit circle.

 

We will have a unit circle quiz on Thursday 9/10/20
