  • I can add matrices.

  • I can subtract matrices.

  • I can perform scalar multiplication with matrices.

Introduction/Connection: 

Do now  -SAT/ACT Practice- students will answer multiple choice questions written in the SAT or ACT style – posted in Google Classroom


DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

Matrix PowerPoint – located in Google Classroom

    We will define matrices and matrix operations as well as work through example problems.

GUIDED PRACTICE:  

Matrix Addition Problems – Smartboard

  Students will mentally solve matrices problems and will share answers with the class.  We will discuss the processes needed to solve the different types of problems.


INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

At the beginning of class students will take a pre-test that will be used to help determine concepts that need further instruction. Students will independently complete “Using Matrices to represent data” worksheet located on Google Classroom and report answers by taking a picture and posting to Google Classroom

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .
