I can multiply row by column to complete  matrix multiplication

Introduction/Connection: 

Do now  -SAT/ACT Practice- students will answer multiple choice questions written in the SAT or ACT style – posted in Google Classroom

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

Matrix Multiplication PowerPoint – located in Google Classroom

    We will define matrix multiplication – row by column- and work through the example problems located in the PowerPoint.

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE:  

Matrix Multiplication Practice Problems 

  Students will solve problems and will share answers with the class.  We will discuss why it is important to identify the dimensions of a matrix before you try to multiply.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will independently complete “Multiplying Matrices” worksheet located on Google Classroom and report answers by taking a picture and posting to Google Classroom

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding.

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

Given a real world scenario, students will be able to find the solution using a matrix.
