Standard(s): MGSE9-12. A.APR.1 Algebra 1 Standards – Multiplying Polynomial Expressions

Learning Target: I can multiply polynomial expressions.

Success Criteria: I can identify like terms. I can define and identify a polynomial. I can add polynomials. I can subtract polynomials. I understand that when I multiply variables with exponents, I add the exponents.

Instructional Strategies:

  • Opening (I do): Complete notes in Flip Chart Folder. Discuss the difference when adding, subtracting, and multiplying variables with exponents.
  • Work Session (We do-You do): Complete Explorations in Core Workbook p. 355 (selected problems).
  • Closing (We check): Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.

Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.
