Note: This is a 2-day lesson.

Standards: I can identify Spanish adjectives, using adjectives to describe self
Learning Targets: I can identify adjectives that describe myself. I can explain "gender" as it relates to ADJECTIVES ending in o/a.
Success Criteria. I can tell someone about myself using "Soy and No soy..." with adjectives, with correct masculine/feminine endings. I can spell Spanish adjectives, recall them, and use them to describe myself, people, and classes/subjects.
Intro/Connection: English adjectives for different things, and What do you look for in a friend (adjectives) loyal, friendly, nice....

watch attached video about adjectives

Read chapter 1 opener. page 19 (see textbook pages, attached!!!)
Read over the Theme of the chapter, pages 20-21
Repeat the vocabulary on pages 22 & 23, (The attached recording will help you)

introduce adjectives (attached)
Introduce Yo soy = I am Yo no soy = I am not....
introduce idea of adjectives ending in "a" or "o" and gender meaning
Introduce Yo soy = I am Yo no soy = I am not....
group work: Tell partner aloud all of them with Soy and No soy, truthfully about yourself, using the adjectives list (don't use grande, corto, largo, or nuevo)

Draw the adjectives and label them in Spanish

Use adjectives to describe your CLASSES. Introduce classes.
Copy the list of class names (la clase de español, la clase de inglés, la clase de historia, la clase de arte, la clase de matemáticas, la clase de ciencias, la clase de educación física/música/arte/)
Complete the adjectives packet (attached)

Differentiation: artistic - drawings of the adjectives!
Assessment Strategy: practice quiz for comprehension gauge
Summarize: Ticket out the door: Tell me one sentence that describes yourself! (Soy...)
Homework: Study for Thursday's quiz over telling time and weather!
