Standards: MLI.CCC3A. similarities and differences between target language and English (articles, making nouns and adjectives plural) MLI.CCC1D - relate content from other subjects as it relates to the target language, MLI.P1B - give information about others, (using the/a/an/some)

Learning Targets: I can identify definite and indefinite articles. I can use articles with classroom objects. I can state what there is and what there is not, in the classroom.

Success Criteria: I will know I've got it when I can identify the "gender" of a Spanish noun. I can use "the, a, an, and some" I can make nouns and adjectives plural in Spanish by correctly adding "s" or "es"

practice with adjective agreement, textbook page 33 (listening and written)
finish adjectives packet (is = es, are = son)
GENDER WORK Take notes on GENDER (attached for absentees)

NOTE: If 2 people are being described, and even ONE of the group is male, then the adjective takes on the MASCULINE plural form, even if the group is 1000 girls and only 1 boy. Example: María y José son altos. (not altas)

describe four (4) of your classes (with a FEMININE ending on the adjective, because "la clase" is FEMININE. "La clase de español es (divertida)., "La clase de banda es... La clase de arte es... La clase de matemáticas es... La clase de música es... La clase de historia es.... La clase de ciencias sociales es.... Examples: La clase de español (no) es divertida. La clase de arte (no) es interesante. La clase de historia (no) es aburrida. etc.
MAKING WORDS PLURAL work:
Explain what letters you add to a noun or adjective to make them plural if: 1) the word ends in a consonant.(add "-es") 2) the word ends in a vowel (add "-s"). Give an example of each (el papel, los papeles AND la ventana, las ventanas)

COPY THIS NOTE: to make a noun/adjective plural: If it ends in a vowel, add "s" example: chico/ chica inteligente/inteligentes. If it ends in a consonant, add "es" examples: azul/ azules mujer/mujeres (woman/women)

1. ¿Cómo es España? What is Spain like? Es viejo. No es grande. Es pequeño.
2. ¿Cómo eres tú? What are you like? --- Yo soy inteligente. (I am smart) Yo no soy feo. (I am not ugly)
3. ¿Cómo es la muchacha/ el muchacho? --- (What is the girl/the boy like?) Él es guapo. (He is good-looking). Ella es guapa. (She is good-looking.)
4. ¿Quién es el amigo de Juan/Julia? (Who is Juan's/Julia's friend?)
