Standards Addressed

MGSE9-12.G.CO.2  Represent transformations in the plane using transparencies; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs.

MGSE9-12.G.CO.5  Given a geometric figure and a reflection, draw the transformed figure.

MGSE9-12.G.CO.6 Use geometric descriptions of rigid motions to transform figures and to predict the effect of a given rigid motion on a given figure.

Learning Targets/Success Criteria

I can recognize a reflection as a transformation by:

    - graphing a reflection across the x-axis, y-axis, x=y,

x = -y and any horizontal or vertical line

    - writing a rule for a reflection across the x-axis, y-axis,           x=y, x=-y and any horizontal or vertical line

    - finding the coordinates of a reflection

Introduction/Connection

Daily 10

Direct Instruction/Guided Practice

Discuss reflections by completing the reflection section of transformation booklet(pages 1-6)

reflection worksheet (1-28)

Independent/Collaborative Practice/Differentiation

Monitoring students throughout lesson as some students will work individually and some will work with partners.  Some students will work ahead on additional assignments or enrichment activities.

Summarize/Check for Understanding

Teacher questioning for understanding/clarification.

Guided practice will be checked for accuracy and corrections will be made.

Assignment
