Glynn Academy's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter proudly competed in the Region STAR Events competition held on Saturday, February 8, at Wayne County High School. STAR Events stands for Students Taking Action for Recognition, highlighting the dedication and hard work of students over several months.
Participants showcased their projects through portfolios and displays, presenting to a panel of three judges. Presentations ranged from 10 to 20 minutes, with some events including impromptu case studies.
Glynn Academy FCCLA members participated in various events, including Entrepreneurship, Event Management, Chapter Service Project, Focus on Children, Leadership, Interpersonal Communications, Career Investigation, and Teach or Train. The chapter is thrilled to announce that they will be advancing to the state competition in 7 out of the 8 events.

- Sydney Montgomery, Entrepreneurship – 2nd place
- Olivia Coiner & Madison Warren, Event Management – 1st place
- Addie Ruth Church & Ben Lee, Focus on Children – 2nd place
- Annabelle Hall, Leadership – 1st place
- Heidi Martinez & Llarizsol Rosales, Interpersonal Communications – 2nd place
- Hiya Patel, Career Investigation – 1st place
- Cayleigh Anderson, Teach or Train – 2nd place
- Mia DeJesus & Katelyn Walden, Chapter Service Project – 3rd place
Competitors who placed 1st or 2nd will move on to the state competition in March. Additionally, Glynn Academy has two students competing in Online STAR Events: Caitlyn Felton for Instructional Video Design and Zion Jones for RedTalks on Education. Results for these events will be announced at the State Leadership Conference in March.
