Core Counseling Classroom Lessons (CCC)

Professional school counselors design and implement school counseling programs to improve a range of student learning and behavioral outcomes. High-quality school counseling programs are comprehensive in scope, preventive in design, and developmental in nature; and as such, are an integral part of the school’s vision and mission. Thus, the components of an effective, comprehensive school counseling program include:
  • Comprehensive school counseling services and direct counseling instruction delivered to all students.
  • Whole group instruction, small group counseling, and individual, solution-focused brief counseling (SFBC) to meet students' immediate needs.
  • Developmentally appropriate, comprehensive school counseling curricula to support students' academic readiness skills, career readiness skills, and mental/emotional wellbeing.
  • Data-informed, evidenced-based school counseling interventions to close achievement & opportunity gaps and to ensure equity and access for all students.
