Meet Dr. Ripple
Susan Ripple, Ed.D., School Counselor, Students S – Z
My name is Susan Ripple, and I am the school counselor for students in grades 9-12 with last names, S - Z. I came to Glynn Academy in 2023-2024 from Jacksonville, Florida, where I spent six (6) years working as a District Specialist for Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) in the Office of School Counseling Services. Prior to my tenure with DCPS, I served as Visiting Professor of Counselor Education and an Adjunct Professor in the graduate School Counseling Program at University of North Florida (UNF).
Although I have lived in Florida since 2015, I have deep roots in my home State of Georgia. I am, and always will be a Georgia Girl at heart. Not only did I grow up in a former sharecropping community west of Atlanta, but I spent most of my career serving as a high school teacher, school counselor, and department chair for school districts in Cobb and Clarke Counties. I have close family ties to Coastal Georgia, as well; so, for me, joining the Counseling Team at GA has been a homecoming of sorts. And make no mistake; this Georgia Girl is happy to be home!
Dr. Ripple holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature with a minor in Psychology from Georgia State University, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in School Counseling & Advisement from University of Southern Mississippi, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Education Leadership from Samford University. In 2014, she was named Georgia High School Counselor of the Year. Later the same year she was selected to represent the State of Georgia in the 2015 National School Counselor of the Year competition, a nomination she declined to pursue opportunities in higher education. Dr. Ripple lives with her husband and their five rescue dogs in Jacksonville, Florida.
