Meet Dr. Ripple

Susan Ripple, Ed.D., School Counselor, Students S – Z

SLSR Emoji NamasteMy name is Susan Ripple, and I am the school counselor for students with last names, S - Z. I have come to Glynn Academy this year from Jacksonville, Florida, where I’ve spent the past six (6) years working as a District Specialist in School Counseling Services for Duval County Public Schools (DCPS). I've also served as an Adjunct Professor of Counselor Education at University of North Florida (UNF), where I taught masters-level graduate courses in professional counseling, education research, school counseling, and leadership.

Although I have lived in Florida since 2015, I have deep roots in my home State of Georgia. I am, and always will be a Georgia Girl at heart. Not only did I grow up in a former sharecropping community west of Atlanta, but I spent most of my career serving as a high school teacher and school counselor for school districts in Cobb and Clarke Counties. I also happen to have close family ties to Coastal Georgia, as well; so, for me, joining the Counseling Team at GA has been a homecoming of sorts. And make no mistake; this Georgia Girl is happy to be home!

Dr. Ripple holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature with a minor in Psychology from Georgia State University, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in School Counseling & Advisement from University of Southern Mississippi, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Education Leadership from Samford University.  In 2014, she was named Georgia School Counselor of the Year Finalist, after which she was selected to represent the State of Georgia for the 2015 ASCA National School Counselor of the Year Award, a nomination she declined to pursue opportunities in higher education.  Dr. Ripple lives with her husband and their five rescue dogs in Jacksonville, Florida.
